When children use paint, collage, clay and other creative media, they have opportunities to make their own choices and express their feelings and ideas.

 

In discussion with adults they develop language and an understanding of concepts such as shape, colour and size.

 

They also develop and practise fine motor skills and gain increasing control over their bodies.

 

As they use a variety of resources, children develop an understanding of the nature and properties of these materials.

 

Experimentation with ideas and materials leads to the confidence to choose, explore and create.
